Strike Farms, owned by Dylan Strike, is a certified organic farm located in the foothills of the Bridger Mountains, just outside Bozeman, Montana. Right from the start, we’ve been committed to growing the finest quality vegetables, flowers, and other foods using only sustainable farming practices, while never losing sight of our dedication to building community for our friends and neighbors.
We farm our ground in a way that not only maintains its fertility, but also improves it over time. We rotate our crops, utilize cover crops and strategic grazing, incorporate compost, plant beneficial insect-attracting plants, and employ other agroecological techniques.
You’ll feel great eating foods grown right here, and helping to keep the tradition of independent farms alive in Montana—delicious never felt so good!
Dylan Strike, Owner
DYLAN was raised in Pinedale, Wyoming and spent the majority of his childhood exploring the surrounding mountains, with a snowboard on his feet in the winter and a pack on his back in the summer.
After finishing high school and generally causing trouble in Pinedale he moved to Bozeman to gain an education at Montana State University and to continue getting into the mountains, though not necessarily in that order. Although drawn to Bozeman for the mountains, Dylan ended up finding the Sustainable Food and Bioenergy Systems degree program, from which he graduated with a degree in Agroecology.
During his time at MSU Dylan had the chance to become involved with the local food community in Bozeman; first through an internship at Towne’s Harvest Garden, MSU’s student farm, then through the process of creating a local food documentary called Bozeman Eats, and eventually as a Farm Manager at Three Hearts Farm. Heartened by his experiences with all of those involved in the local food system, from producer to consumer, and seeing the apparent need for more local food production Dylan decided to stay in Bozeman and start a farm of his own. When not at the farm you’ll find Dylan making powder turns at Bridger Bowl or trail running and mountain biking the beautiful trails around Bozeman.
ALEXIS is our CSA Member Manager and has been with the farm since the first full year of 2014. Alexis hails from Virginia, where she worked on a number of farms and community garden projects before moving to the freezing cold of Montana. In addition to being an awesome farmer Alexis is an excellent educator and has done great work teaching the school groups that frequently tour our farm. When Alexis isn’t farming she can be found rock climbing, biking, hiking; but mostly dominating on the ultimate Frisbee field!
RYAN is our Crew Leader/Harvest Manager and has been working at the farm since the spring of 2016. Ryan moved to Montana from New York City where he was working at the NYC Compost Project. He also worked on several vegetable farms in Maine and brings invaluable experience to our farm. In addition to his role at the farm Ryan also has his own business -- Happy Trash Can Curbside Composting. When not at the farm or at his other job Ryan can be found shredding the concrete wave on his skateboard and cooking amazing meals.
