WHAT IS A VEGETABLE SUBSCRIPTION?
Strike Farms’ year round customizable VEGETABLE SUBSCRIPTION (sometimes called a CSA) is the best way to get healthy, certified organic produce (allowing you to enjoy the fresh taste of Montana at every meal) while also helping the farm itself stay healthy year-round, not just during the peak growing season. You’ll receive weekly boxes of an assortment of 6-10 seasonal veggies and canned goods, like pickled beets, dilly beans, dill pickles, and curried carrots. Please see examples of shares HERE. Your cost is $33 per week, plus a small delivery charge if you pick-up outside of the Bozeman area.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN THAT YOUR SUBSCRIPTIONS ARE CUSTOMIZABLE?
Based on your preferences given at the time of sign-up, each week your share will be filled with a mix of 6-10 of seasonal items with the option of easily customizing your share by swapping out items or adding even more if there is something you want extra of that week. You will receive an email each week that tells you what will be in following week's box and you have a couple of days to log in to your account and swap out any items that you don't desire for more of the ones that you do.
HOW DO I JOIN?
IS THERE A SIGN UP DEADLINE?
There isn’t a deadline, but we offer a limited number of subscriptions, so it is possible for them to sell out.
WHEN DOES YOUR SEASON START?
The summer vegetable subscription runs for 12 weeks and it begins on June 25th and runs through the week of September 17th. However, starting in June, our Vegetable Subscription is going to be offered as a year-round share so once we make it to June, you can sign up at anytime throughout the year to start receiving your veggie subscription. You can choose to opt of out of the share program after the 12 weeks of the summer, otherwise you can receive healthy, delicious vegetables all year round for $33 per week.
Winter 2019 (January 2 - March 20)
Spring 2019 (April 3 - June 19)
WHY AM I NOT ABLE TO SIGN UP FOR THE SPRING 2019 SHARE? IS THERE A WAITLIST?
We have reached capacity for Spring members, which is great for the farm, but it means that we can no longer sign anyone up for the spring. There is also no waitlist as we are already in full swing. It is possible, however, to sign up for the summer share whenever.
WHERE DO I PICK UP?
When you sign up you will have several pickup options available. Please choose one and commit to picking up at the same place all season, so that we know how many boxes to send to each pick up location. Find your pick-up HERE.
CAN MY FRIEND/RELATIVE/DOG PICK UP MY BOX FOR ME?
Absolutely! Just have them check your name on the sign-in sheet.
WHAT IF I'M GOING OUT OF TOWN FOR A WEEK?
Please send a friend or relative to pick up your box or adjust your pick-up settings through your account.
AS A MEMBER, HOW DO I PUT A HOLD ON MY BOX FOR ANY GIVEN WEEK AND HOW DO I RESCHEDULE IT FOR ANOTHER WEEK?
You can do both of these by logging into your account with Harvie. If you’re still having trouble, please contact Harvie support directly and they will assist you.
WONDERING IF YOU SUCCESSFULLY PUT A HOLD ON YOUR BOX FOR THE RIGHT WEEK?
Log in to your Harvie account and go to the ‘My Deliveries’ tab. It will show you all of your shares for the season and indicate which boxes you have put on hold, if any. Still can’t find your answer? Contact Harvie support directly.
DID YOU SHOW UP TO YOUR PICK UP LOCATION AND YOUR BOX WASN'T THERE?
Please check your Harvie account under the ‘My Deliveries’ tab and see if you put a hold on your box that week. If not, please contact Harvie support to see if they can provide an answer. They will then reach out to us to remedy the situation.
WHAT IF I FORGET TO PICK UP MY BOX?
Any shares not picked up during the designated pick up window will be donated to the Gallatin Valley Food Bank. Please set a reminder in your phone so that you don’t miss your weekly veggies!
CAN I RECYCLE MY BOX?
Please transfer your produce to your own bag and break down your box and leave it at the drop point each week. We save and reuse the boxes!
HOW MANY PEOPLE DOES A STANDARD SHARE FEED?
A share provides all the vegetables needed for a family of 4 or 1-2 avid veggie eaters. This assumes that you cook dinner and breakfast at home several days a week. If you don’t cook very often and just want carrots and cherry tomatoes to snack on, be on the lookout for our Market Stand hours so that you can make smaller purchases.
CAN I SHARE MY BOX?
For members who may feel you would like to split a box, we welcome you to initiate this with friends, family, or neighbors. We leave this responsibility to you and your box mates: how you split the produce is your decision. Sharing a box requires extra care that your group picks up only one box each week. A great option is to alternate weeks that you pick up a share, so you don’t have to decide how to split the veggies each week!
IS THERE A WAY TO REDUCE THE AMOUNT OF PLASTIC IN MY SHARE?
Much to our dismay, the amount of plastic we use is because of food regulations that are required of us. We are continually looking for ways to reduce the plastic we do use, but unfortunately we have regulatory constraints in most instances.
IS YOUR FARM ORGANIC?
We are proud to be certified organic since 2015! Although we have followed organic standards from the beginning, we wanted to show the world our commitment to farming our ground in a way that not only sustains its fertility, but also improves it over time. You can read more about our farm here.
WHAT ARE THE WORKING CONDITIONS AT THE FARM?
Nourishing our community starts right here with our farm family. Our employees are paid a livable wage, and our emphasis on storage crop production allows our managers to have year-round employment.
CAN I VISIT THE FARM TO SEE HOW MY FOOD IS GROWN?
Subscription members in Bozeman have the option to pick up at the farm and see what is happening in the field. We also offer guided farm tours on Wednesday evenings during the summer - details and sign up coming soon!
